Superintendent's Message: March 19

JuabSD Families,

Many great things are happening in JuabSD. First, I would like to recognize those students who participated in the Central Region Sterling Scholar Program. Of the 12 students who participated in this year's competition, four received top marks as winners or runners-up.  Congratulations to all our scholars and a big "Thank You" to all our parents and staff who helped prepare them for this competitive event! We have no doubt further success is waiting.

Congratulations to our JHS Boys Basketball team and the JHS Wrestling team for winning their respective 3A State Championships last month.  Whether it is our high school drill team, cheer squad, girls’ basketball team, elementary or junior high school student clubs, or activity groups, our students achieve greatness.

There is nothing more remarkable than winning each day in the classroom and then transferring those wins of education and excelling into an additional arena.  Our elementary school students have been engaged and finding growth in robotics activities, art appreciation competitions, and science fairs these past few months. With that, I note that all of our students have found ways to excel within the classroom and beyond.  Grit, growth mindset, perseverance, courtesy, leadership, and resilience are the dispositions that make our kids so great in all that they do; these are embedded in our district's Portrait of a Graduate work.

Spring break will be from April 5 through April 9. As we return from this well-deserved break, I want to remind everyone to stay focused and continue to prepare our students for upcoming state assessments. Remember, the more students are engaged, the higher their achievement will be.

There are many other exciting things taking place over the next few months. Baseball, softball, tennis, and track and field are in full swing. The drama department just finished their production of Crazy for You which was a great success. I am honored to say that JuabSD students and staff have not allowed a pandemic, and it's associated pressure to slow them down from learning and engaging in life.

As always, thank you for the continued support of our students, teachers, and staff. It is greatly appreciated. Enjoy your upcoming Spring Break, and stay safe!

I look forward to seeing everyone back healthy and ready to finish out the school year "Juab Strong!"

Respectfully,

Dr. Hughes
