Asbestos Management Plan

Asbestos Management Plan

On December 14, 1987, the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) became effective, requiring the district to inspect all buildings for friable and non-friable asbestos-containing materials and develop management plans which outline actions to be taken to control release of asbestos fibers.

All schools in the Juab School District have been inspected by accredited asbestos inspectors. As a result of this inspection, we have compiled an asbestos management book on every school. The book identifies all asbestos-containing material in the school building and our plans for dealing with it in the future.

A copy of the management plan for each school is available through the District Office, for a cost of $10.00 each, or the book and management plan is available for you viewing at each school.

Certified asbestos personnel complete a surveillance inspection of every school and relocatable building each six months. A total school inspection is completed by certified personnel each three years. All conditions are monitored and action taken as need is determined.

We will be scheduling asbestos removal projects in several buildings from time to time. These removal projects will generally be carried out in the summer months. If you wish to know if your school has removal projects scheduled, refer to the school's asbestos management plan located in each school office area.

Training and re-training programs are in place to ensure a good program and provide safe conditions for all school building occupants.
